Spring in the vineyard is an exciting time, watching the new growth turn the dormant vines back into a canopy of green. Although past the frost threat, which would damage the shoots, we still hope the warmth, sunshine and rain doesn’t result in mildew! With a warm start to the season, bud burst was a week or two earlier than expected. Rainfall’s down by a third, but the soil moisture level is the same as this time last year so the pinot, merlot and cabernet are all growing well. With lots of care, skill, patience - and a little luck with the weather - we are looking forward to a good vintage. |
