Summer is here and the fruit is ripening beautifully. Nature has been kind this season and the various ills that have plagued other hills vineyard – powdery mildew, early defoliation and bird damage – seem to have spared the Mt Bera vineyards.

Across the vineyard, fruit is undergoing veraison – that is, the colour of the berries are changing as energy is diverted from growth to ripening – with the pinot well ahead. We’re out amongst the vines removing any secondary or green fruit from the pinot to ensure the crop ripens evenly.

Fresh and familiar faces galore were at the Mt Bera summer celebration on December 2 for a tour, tasting and lunch on the croquet lawn. February 9 saw us at the Cellardoor Sessions 08 in Rymill Park, where Brenton Beard of Henley Beach won a 3 course lunch for two at the Art Gallery Restaurant.

Coming up, bookings are essential for the pre-vintage wine tasting at Mt Bera on Sunday 2nd March at 11.30-2pm (rsvp 28 Feb).

And the big one! We officially release our new vintage in Adelaide at the National Wine Centre on Thursday 10 April and in Perth on Wednesday 23 April at La Vigna,
Mt Lawley. See www.mtberavineyards.com.au for full details and bookings!
